When I saw the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, my first thought
was „Awesome, a movie about arcade games! I am going to love this!” And I did.
Even more than I thought I would.
What looked to me like a fun movie, with many famous
characters from the games we played when we were young including Sonic, Street
Fighters and Pacman, actually turned out to be so much more than that. Wreck-It
Ralph is a story about being forced into certain boxes in life and trying to escape.
Even more so it questions what and who is good and bad in this world of gaming,
giving the two-dimensional characters of the past a new-found depth.

Without a doubt, Wreck-It Ralph is another one of those modern
animation movies leading their field by proving that animation is not just for
little children anymore. Quite the opposite, Ralph joins the ranks of the new generationof tangled princesses and red-headed Scottish royals who question thetraditional Disney story and storm too success spewing sarcasm along the way.
Another surprising turn of events was how touched I actually was by the movie. When Ralph finally accepts that he is “bad, and that is good”thereby becoming good (you will understand it, when you get there), I actually teared up. After almost 25 years of watching movies, that is not something I do lightly. Strangely enough, this is not the first animated movie that has struck a chord with me recently. This might just be personal preference, but you can really feel the hard work and love hat goes into animated movies.

The movie was perfect down to the last detail, with
characters moving the way they would have in the games and the design of the different
gaming worlds was just pure eye candy, especially in Sugar Rush, where
everything was quite literally candy.
Funny, touching and nostalgic of the good old arcade days,
Wreck-It Ralph has so far been my favourite animated movie since Tangled
wrapped itself around our hearts three years ago. The Disney reign continues…
